The John Wesley New Room museum, 36 The Horsefair, Bristol, UK BS1 3JE Sketch crawl 02.12.17
A very historic site being the oldest Methodist building in the world built in 1739. I met with the Bristol Urban Sketchers on Saturday morning and what a lovely friendly bunch they were. Most heartwarming chatting to people from various backgrounds who had travelled from around Bristol and beyond, including Gloucester, Stroud etc. A real support group to encourage all to pick up the pencil and sketch from life. Great stuff, and a most refreshing addition to the Christmas market taking place outside.
As I sketched away in the old chapel images of the courtroom scene from the BBC Drama series Poldark, filmed on location here, came flooding back. I think me and my wife had an excellent two for one ready meal from M&S the night they broadcast that episode. Very sophisticated we are. Sat in a pile of discarded childrens’ toys.
